ASBESTOS REFERENCES:

The chapter on Boiler Construction has a section on casings.  It says, "Metal-encased asbestos gaskets are used at the joints."

Another chapter has a section on "Renewing Manhole and Handhole Gaskets."
It says: "For saturated steam below 300 p.s.i. boiler pressure, asbestos metallic cloth gaskets are used on all boiler manhole and handhole plates."

Asbestos gaskets are suitable for air compressors - specifically the air valve seats, valve covers, and the cylinder head joints.

There is a list of Damage-Control Equipment.  This list includes Asbestos suits and Asbestos gloves.

CONDITION: Acceptable. Unfortunately, the first 8 pages have heavy creasing. The pages of this book are all legible, but some have creases, small edge tears, and wear.  The covers and spine are well worn. The binding is not great, but all pages are still holding together ok.
