ASBESTOS REFERENCE:

This book states that asbestos fibers are found in the lung.  Asbestosis is mentioned in the section on pneumoconioses.

Also: "Exposure to fibrous dusts, such as asbestos and talc, seems to favor development of diffuse rather than focal lesions."

Additional Information:

The chapter on "Disease Risk from Inhaled Aerosols" mentions: asbestosis, silicosis, lead poisoning, manganese poisoning, radioactive particulate hazards, byssinosis.
