ASBESTOS REFERENCES:
There is a section on "The Case of Asbestos: Dose-Response and Latency" by Irving J. Selikoff
In this section, the history of asbestos disease is described, dating back to 1899.
In 1906, Dr. Murray said "Now that we know that asbestos can kill people, it will not happen any more."
This article discusses a latency period of 30-40 years.
Another section of this book has information about the Port Allegany Asbestos Health Program.
There is also a table entitled "Pneumoconioses Cases Reported by the Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System and the NYS Workers' Compensation Board"
which has information on Asbestosis.
Another table is entitled "Occupational Disease Morbidity Reported by the New York State Workers' Compensation Board, 1979-1982 Annual Averages" which lists data for the condition of Asbestosis.
There are also at least a couple other asbestos references in the text.
